Twenty minutes outside of San Jose, we will cross the Continental Divide and enter Braulio Carrillo National Park. After a half hour ride, the bus will arrive at the 1,000 acre private reserve of virgin forest.
Passenger transportation from our visitor center to the forest.
The tour service offers an introduction to the forest, as visitors pass by a small river and numerous trees with nesting holes for various birds - the White-winged Alcon is regularly seen here, as well as the Woodpecker and many others.
Deep trails will be marked and here tapirs cross daily peregrinations to find forage.
The Visitor Center provides quick information on canopy exploration and streetcar construction. From this point, visitors are divided into smaller groups where you will observe and learn about nature from one of our trained naturalist guides for 45 or 90 minutes (optional). Our trails are well groomed and provide an excellent introduction to the rainforest and a view from the forest floor, as does the streetcar.
The cable cars can carry 5 passengers and a guide. Our guides will show you the different species of trees and birds that inhabit this unique environment.
The streetcar ride lasts approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. The streetcar will take you over the hills and through the canopy, a world full of trees with mosses, ferns and orchids. Lianas and vines perch on the trees attracting birds and insects. The trip will stop several times at the loading stations.
The return trip reveals the most dramatic portion of the Tour, as the streetcar glides through and over the aerial canopy.
