The Gulf of Nicoya, is a paradisiacal archipelago composed of islands, with an exuberant natural wealth and a sanctuary for marine birds, has white sand beaches, flora and fauna typical of our Central Pacific. In this beautiful archipelago is: Tortuga Island.
Located 12 nautical miles from Puntarenas is: Isla Tortuga (called by the Tolinga Indians); it has an area of 120 hectares, is maintained as a protected forest. Tortuga Island has the Ecological Blue Flag award, since its waters are free of pollution. This distinction is granted by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute. For its geographical characteristics Isla Tortuga has turquoise waters, which are optimal for swimming.
