Take a peek of San Salvador, walk amongst the ancient Copan and Tikal Ruins, absorb the unique Mayan culture of Guatemala, and travel the Mayan Route of El Salvador.
Welcome at the Airport. Transfer to San Salvador city.
Free time that evening.
Morning: Half day city tour of San Salvador. Transfer to Copan, Honduras, 130 kms. north of San Salvador. Visit Copan village.
Free time in evening.
In the morning, we will tour the Copan Ruins and visit the Copan Archaeological Park, a major UNESCO World heritage site of the Antique Mayan Culture. Visit another archaeological site, Las Sepulturas, and a local museum.
Transfer to Hotel.
In the morning, we will transfer to Guatemala where our first visit will be in Antigua. We will visit its two volcanoes, the Fuego and Acatenango Volcanoes before continuing on our route towards the Casa Santa Domingo Hotel, the San Francisco Church (where Santo Hermano Pedro is buried), the Capuchinas Convent, the Arco Street, the La Merced Church, and handicraft markets.
You will be transported to your hotel, Posada de Don Rodrigo, in Antigua.
We will board a flight to the area of El Peten to visit Tikal, one of the most important archeological sites of the antique Mayan culture. Its name literally means “Place of Voices”. We will visit the many different Mayan temples and sites including the Acropolis, Temples I, II, III, IV, and the Mundo Perdido (Temple of the Lost World).
Afterwards, we will continue to Las Floras where we will spend the night on a small island situated in Lake Peten. Free time for the evening.
Transfer to Chichicastenango, northeast of Antigua. Visit the colorful market (2nd biggest open air market in Latin America), the volcanoes, Atitlán and Tolimán, the Santo Tomás Church, and the Cerro Pascual Trail. We will visit shops selling ethnic clothing and crafts before continuing south of Chichicastenango, to visit Lake Atitlán and the surrounding villages.
Transfer to Hotel in Guatemala City.
In the morning, we will fly to Guatemala City where we will do a city tour visiting its most important buildings such as the National Palace of Culture, the Plaza of the Constitution, and the Metropolitana Cathedral.
You will be free to have lunch where you choose. We will then transfer to San Salvador where we will stay the night. Free time for the rest of the evening.
Visit the Pompey of America, the old archaeological site called “Joya de Cerén”, declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO, and the Ruins of San Andrés. You will then take a panoramic tour of Santa Ana (City centre, Gothic Cathedral, Santa Ana Theatre), Casablanca, and the Ruins of Tazumal where you will view the tallest Pyramid in El Salvador
Visit the National Park of the Volcanoes: Cerro Verde, Izalco, and Ilamatepec Volcanoes.
View the coffee plantations on the mountain slopes while on route to visit Lake Coatepeque, the church in the small town of Izalco, and the villages of Apaneca, Ataco, and Nahuizalco where you will be able to observe and appreciate the elaborate weavings and local handicrafts.
Relax and enjoy a day at beach on the wonderful coast of Salvador.
Visit the handicraft market in San Salvador where you can do some last minute shopping.
Transfer to Airport.
