A delightful and interesting introduction to Suchitoto, “the place of birds and flowers” in San Salvador and the magnificent colonial architecture of Antigua in Guatemala.



OUR SCHEDULE


DAY 1 // AIRPORT‐ SAN SALVADOR

Welcome at the airport by one of our representatives before transferring to San Salvador City 49 kms away (35 mins). Overnight at San Salvador.

Optional: Disco Tour ‐ visit the main bars and restaurants areas of San Salvador

DAY 2// OLD CITY SUCHITOTO TOUR

After breakfast, departure to La Bermuda (60 kms), an archaeological site representing the first location of the Salvadoran capital of San Salvador. San Salvador was established here in 1528 while the Conquest was still in progress. This site is one of the best preserved Conquest‐period Spanish sites in the hemisphere.

Later, visit Suchitoto in Nahuat, the Place of Birds and Flowers. It seems that time has stood still for this colonial city of well preserved cobbled streets and its old, historic church of Santa Lucia constructed in 1853. Later, enjoy a boat ride along the Suchitlan Lake.

DAY 3// COLONIAL AND VOLCANO ROUTE

Visit the Volcanoes National Park (75 kms approx.) and view Cerro Verde, Izalco Volcano, Ilamatepec Volcano, and Lake Coatepeque.

We will then visit the coffee mountains of El Salvador and the artisan towns of Apaneca, Ataco, and Nahuizalco. Return to San Salvador.

DAY 4 // ‐ SAN SALVADOR ‐ GUATEMALA CITY TOUR ‐ ANTIGUA GUATEMALA

After breakfast, transfer by bus to Antigua Guatemala (325 kms approx.). The evening is your free time to enjoy the surroundings.

DAY 5 // ANTIGUA GUATEMALA WALKING TOUR

The Old City has a large number of ruins and restored colonial buildings which are a part of the magnificent colonial architecture of the city. The museum contains a large collection of religious art, sculptures, furniture, and murals depicting colonial life. It is like stepping back into time. Walk the cobblestone streets and discover the intricate details of the different structures.

DAY 6// DAY OF DEPARTURE

Three hours before your flight, we will depart to the Aurora International Airport in Guatemala.
